Top 5 Tech advancements HOPED to fight climate emergency

when it comes to survival, what we say "matters", what we do "matters", and what we perceive "matters". the term "climate change" has been replaced with "climate crisis" and "climate emergency" for the world to pay attention. The people who have paid the most attention are working tirelessly to invent the ways to reverse the damage that has been caused by us. As CO2 concentration is going higher in the atmosphere, so is the blood in the innovators'  brains. here are the top 5 Technology innovations that are hoped to be our weapon against climate battle.

Energy Alternatives:
this might be the oldest argument made by science to tackle climate change but it is still worthy of discussion. we have heard of solar energy, hydropower, windmills, and nuclear energy as fossil fuel's replacements. These energies are continuously made better by innovators across the globe. As solar power is being stored for longer times, and wind turbines are being installed in the skyscrapers, A Canadian company called "General Fusion" is making remarkable progress with nuclear energy. "Nuclear fusion produces zero greenhouse emissions releasing only helium as exhaust and it also requires less land than other technology", the company says. They aim to be the first ones to create a commercially viable nuclear power plant.

Green Roofs:
The history of green roof systems goes back to ancient Babylon. "The hanging gardens of Babylon" were a marvel of architecture. Green roof systems are an extension in existing roofs consisting of a waterproof membrane, a light-weight growing material, root repellent, drainage systems, and diverse plant species. The kind of growth material used is based on the type of plant species that may vary according to the location. Green roof tech has provided both public and private benefits. Public benefits involve a reduction in urban heat island effect, improved air quality, less pollution-related illness, aesthetic improvement, more amenity spaces, and local job creation. The private benefits include more durable roof structures, energy efficiency, less noise, less electromagnetic radiation penetration, and much more. In Europe, this technology has been well embraced by the public but the industry is still immature in the rest of the world. the ecological benefits provided by green roofs are also remarkable. different species can call such places home improving ecological health and well-being. owing to all green roofs are capable of, It is considered one of the best technologies that can help battle climate crisis.

Bio solar leaf:
Let me take you to the genius mind of CEO of Arborea Biotech, Julian Melchiorri who invented Bio solar leaf. He has industrialized photosynthesis. What leaf does is use microalgae and phytoplankton to simply do their work; sucking up carbon dioxide and releasing fresh oxygen in the air. they are said to do the job of 100 trees occupying the surface area of only one. and the story doesn't end here, the organisms are later on harvested to produce food additives. Melchiorri wanted to tackle climate change while addressing the critical issue of food availability and the guy actually did it. I mean how cool is that?

Electric Vehicles:
23% of total global CO2 emissions are related to transport. Now, when someone says the word Electric vehicles we automatically think of Tesla, and yes! they have one of the finest inventions with Zero carbon emissions. Model X achieves 3.1 miles per kilowatt-hour of energy according to EPA. these vehicles are charged less frequently and produce more mileage. Tesla has a commitment to renewable energy. its powerwall unit generates electricity for homes using stored solar energy even when the sun is out. imagine making this technology cost-effective and spread it worldwide. how do you see the world around you?

Direct Carbon capture from ambient air:
companies like "Climeworks" are directly capturing CO2 from the ambient air. DAC (direct air capture) tech consists of Giant vacuum pumps sucking specifically CO2 from the air sequestering it underground and in some cases supplying it to different industries making climeworks the first industry to sell CO2 to consumers which is then used as fertilizer by agriculture industry or to carbonate drinks by beverage industries.

What's Next?
The world is moving towards smart cities with energy-efficient buildings and green energy systems. The scientists and engineers behind these technologies (and many others) are continuously providing their efforts to save the planet. thinking about the future of the planet can be scary but I do have a hope that innovation along with changes in our individual lifestyles can save our home. What other technologies do you think are efficient?

  1. Excellent work, you're doing, I must say. Your writing skills are good enough and even getting better with every new blog. Please, double check the proof reading before finally posting it. It's CO2, not co2 or Co2.

  2. This quite naïve to suggest that renewables and other green technology will save the world from disasters! Firstly, the world populations should pressurise governments to stop producing weapons of mass destructions, stop fighting wars to reduce the world populations. The warlords should be questioned and legally prosecuted for gaining and enriching themselves from killing innocent civilians! These criminals who invented, developed and distributed Covid19 should be locked behind bars away from other humans. If people are really interested to save the planet, then they should stop wasting billions in travelling outers pace to locate other suitable planets, better still reinvest these billions in saving fresh water, feeding the poor, educate deprived children and stop playing gods!!

The impact of science on society: Bertrand Russell's analysis

"Knowledge is power, but it is power for evil as much as for good. It follows that, unless men increase in wisdom as much as in knowledge, increase of knowledge will be increase of sorrow"  These are the words of Bertrand Russell. A British polymath, logician, mathematician, antiwar activist, philosopher, and an author. He has been called "the father of logic" by many and there's no doubt that he is. I'm taking you to one of his most famous works; the impact of science on society. About the book:  The book consists of lectures delivered by him on many occasions. Almost all of these lectures were delivered after world war 2. The idea of this book revolves around both positive and negative impacts that science created on society. Also, what can still happen in future. How can mankind use science to move towards prosperity or deterioration. It gives a clear insight on scientific democracy and dictatorship. Russell's philosophy involves rationality and truth...

You, me and Microplastics

Microplastics (MPs) are the hottest topic now a days and they should be because they are everywhere and by everywhere I mean EVERYWHERE. The oceans, the Islands, the lakes, the sediments, inside the organisms and even in human blood too. before we go further lets see What are they?  There is no agreed upon definition of Mps in scientific literature but some scientists define them as tiny plastic particles with a size range between 1μm-5mm. They can be of different shapes and colors (transparent as well)  and are released into the environment directly or indirectly. Directly through washing machines, industries and personal care products (watch your glitter use, folks) while Indirect exposure means the breakdown of larger plastic pieces into smaller ones (how? a topic for another day). Why Worry?  Mps are a pollutant of emerging concern for multiple reasons.  They are everywhere  They are a threat to ecological health  Small organisms eat them and they ...
